Hi my lovely friend.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already thinking of the new year. Mostly because I have projects that I’m working on that will come into being then, but also it feels like it’s already here! Even though I want so badly to be present here and now.
Also, November always makes me think of my sweet Magnolia when she was born, and how tumultuous that was. I thought I could work until the end of November and then have the month of December to prepare for her to be here, but that just wasn’t the case.
It’s as if my body remembers (it does).
She turns 5 next week. Can you believe that?
I learned today that she’s famous in both of her teachers homes because she says and does the funniest stuff. She’s the brightest light, with the biggest personality. And she has very deep thoughts. Lately we’ve been talking about the future and what she’s most excited about, and the most frequent answer is that she just can’t wait until Snowfy (our now deceased cat) is resurrected. Her explanations of that process vary, but she’s all in. She’s just Magnolia, and I wish you could know her.
I’ve also been on a five year quest to get answers about my pre-eclampsia and heal my body so I can have a healthy pregnancy and have another baby. I’ve read A LOT. studied so much, learned a lot, listened a lot, and I believe that I finally have enough information to put it all into practice. The most recent book I’ve encountered is called Cure you Fatigue by Morely Robbins. It was recommended to me from another mom at Magnolia’s school, because she saw my psoriasis on my arms. It’s something I’ve always dealt, but has become increasingly worse over the past 5 years. This book has been so enlightening. I can’t stop talking about it.
If you’re someone who has dealt with any sort of chronic fatigue, low iron/anemia, malabsorption issues, autoimmunity, or any other health issues related to your energy, I can’t recommend it enough.
Basics
I’m grateful for your feedback about the basics! Like I said, I really miss them, and it’s very much like missing tools from your tool box.
If you haven’t commented or sent me a note, I’d love to hear from you as I’m finishing up another collection and I love to take your thoughts into consideration.
Speaking of upcoming collections!
I’m waiting on strike offs for my next collection that you don’t already know about. I’m actually very excited about it. Next year will be SEASONAL releases. Think of my seasons in paper goods and what that could mean.
In the mean time, we have Love Letter, and Tiny Christmas to look forward too. Love Letter pre-cuts are already arriving in shops, and in January the yardage will start popping up.
Should we have a quilt along?
This year has been a little like trying to drink from a firehouse. I thought I would just tack fabric onto all the things that I was doing and what actually happened was the exact opposite.
I’m getting caught up on patterns! Bright Future is at the printer and will be here the first week in December! Then Special Delivery and Rockhound. Then we’ll move on to the Christmas patterns which are nearly there. My whole goal is to be done before the end of the year so I can start with a clean slate!
I really love quilting.
Y’all are so smart… quilting all the time.
What I really want is a little bit of time to actually quilt for the sake of quilting. To make something fun and interesting… you know… follow an idea instead of racing to a deadline.
Coming soon!
Moving forward I’d really like to spotlight/highlight people making stuff with my fabric or my patterns, and I think this is a great place to do it. We’ll have spotlights and guest posts so you can see what people are working on, and their creative process.
Also, if you’re making something that you’d like to have featured, send me a note at hello@lizzyhouse.com with the subject SUBSTACK SPOTLIGHT
This coming week I’ll have a preview of some upcoming projects for subscribers, and a walk through of all the tiny Christmas projects and quilts.
There will be a preview of everything that will be available for the upcoming Christmas/Holiday sale. Normally, I’d have already had the sale, but I wasn’t planning on doing it this year… but enough people reached out that I was like… I can put something together. Also, there will be new t-shirts/sweatshirts/kids stuff next week.
I didn’t realize how many people missed my paper goods. That made me feel good. Thanks for loving and using my stuff. As always, I hope it has brought you joy.
Have a wonderful weekend! I’m wrapping up quilts and doing my big holiday deep cleaning so we can decorate and get ready for my best girl’s birthday.
lots of love,
lizzy
Thank you for sharing the love of your daughter. I grew up neglected and did not know how to love my children robustly. At 53 I am learning, they are embracing the change. I love that your daughter will not feel that way, and I am learning its ok, through your posts and others, to let them know, to let them see you vulnerable.
I learned to quilt because I saw a quilt made with your fabrics. It resides on my bed permanently. I've sewn a lot of love since then :)
I love you my sweet girl ❤️ the world needs more of you and Magnolia!!!
