Hi, I’ve missed you.
To just jump right in, my Mom was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of May and our whole world is shifting. We’re working on moving her in with us so she can go through treatment here with us. The hospital is down the street from us. I will get to cook for her everyday, and Magnolia will have an in house Grandma. My focus and attention have been very divided. We pray that her treatment will be effective, her recovery easy and that we’ll just get to enjoy our time together, forever. I don’t have any tears left at the moment. Losing my Grandma in February, and now this… its been a lot. And all of this… It’s a big shift for my little family, but I know that it’s the right move for everyone involved.
Also, we were going to host a sewing retreat in October, but with all the changes coming our way, we’re putting it on hold. Which is a bummer. I was so excited about what I was planning, but I know it’s the right time to pause. I’ll keep you updated with future plans.
I’m almost caught up with all my patterns. Tiny Christmas patterns are with the printer right now, and I’m especially excited about the Holiday Cookie Party pattern. Eventually I’d like to turn it into a full book with all the recipes for all of the types of cookies (my true dream), but for now it’s just a gorgeous and very thorough 24 pages pattern, and all of the blocks have cookie names. I also created paper piecing templates for almost every block and they’re being printed as well. SO when you receive the pattern, you’ll be able to open it up and go for it. I’d like to host a sew-along in July, you know… Christmas in July… I think I’m looking for a shop to partner with. More on that soon. This and the other patterns will be out in the next few weeks and the fabric is currently shipping! I’m glad things are moving along.
Also, there’s still going to be a Tiny Christmas little treat club with an exclusive never before seen quilt, the full elf boot stocking pattern with all the add ons, and the tree skirt of your dreams. You’re definitely going to want to find 1-2 of the Tiny Christmas panel. Trust me.
Funny Valentine is available for Pre-Sale right now through Moda reps! Please let your local shop or favorite online shop that you’d really like to buy this from them. Here are a few of the projects coming out:
For the fussy cutting applique girlies, this quilt is a dream! Each gumball machine is 24 inches across…. So you could one as a wall hanging or more for a very big I-spy quilt. The foundation pieces sew together so fast, because they’re huge. Can’t wait to show you my finished one!
I love love love this quilt. This is Only you… I really need to partner with a template company, because almost all my quilts use templates. I don’t know what my deal is, but it’s how I like to design, and what I’m drawn to in traditional quilts. These curves are fun to sew. I love the faceted nature of the hearts and squares. When I was a little girl they made TONS of big clear plastic heart crystal shiny glittery jewel things. It’s always stuck with me, and they are permanently embedded in my personality.
I’m JUST starting to wrap my head around designing with pre-cuts and this quilt Love Notes uses a Jelly roll for all the 9 patches. I felt pretty cool about that. I’ve always loved antique quilts that use the snowball block as an illusion, and I’m glad to have one in my own house now, and available for all toot sweet.
Maybe one of my favorite quilts I’ve ever designed… Nuts and Chews. I designed it for my Grandma right after she passed on Valentines, and I just love it. You might have seen it in pieces if you were at H&H, as I got the news about my Mom the day after my fabric arrived. I was supposed to be there, and it all fell apart in front of me. I’m grateful to the gals at Moda for their understanding and help. It means so much to me.
This quilt is also part of another Little Treat Club! A valentine’s little treat club that will release with the fabric. I also have to give a huge shout out to Mary Warren, Lexi Ellis and Sara Brown. They created fantastic projects that will also be in the Little Treat Club, and I was so grateful to get to work with them on this. They are wonderful designers, great sounding boards, and really good friends. I can’t wait for you to see everything we’ve created.
And last but by no means least, The Valentine Advent. This pattern is part of an exclusive collectors box filled with so many fun things, ribbon, fabric, and this pattern. My Valentine Advent quilt is almost complete, and I just know you’re going to want to make one. It’s too cute. Too much fun. It’s over the top sweetness.
I’ll share more soon. Today is Magnolia’s last day of school. We pick her up and we’re free! so I’m gearing up for a tiny break with her before we rearrange the house. We’ll spend most of it playing in the garden, which brings us such tremendous joy.
I love you. I’ll be around more regularly. I still have so many things to share.
xoxo lizzy
I’m so sorry about what Cherri is going through. City Quilts is one of my favourite books ever! Sending healing thoughts her way … ❤️🩹❤️❤️
So sorry about your mama. You're going through so much... And producing beautiful things at the same time. It seems contradictory, and maybe they aren't related on the outside by more than temporal correlation. That being said, I certainly find creation to be an outlet for processing pain; I'm grateful for the fact the things you make give me tools to do my own creations. Will always support you in all the ways I can. <3s!
