A little while ago I decided that I’d revisit some patterns that were super well loved, and asked after constantly, and a decade out of print. I wanted to make them available digitally, because I don’t intend to commercially rerelease them, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t exist ever again. I wanted to produce them in a panel so they
wouldn’t produce any waste
give you the largest selection without having to find pieces of these 18 fabrics, and
produce it in a way that it gets done/ doesn’t produce soooo much work in the shipping/fulfillment department (that’s still me).
So I wanted to note a few things about the panel.
I started with the green/teal/citron colors mostly because of the Unicorn tapestry print. Originally I wanted to do like a perfect rainbow of patterns and colors and then I just realized no one would be happy, because their favorite wouldn’t be there, and then panel would be huge and completely cost prohibitive, etc etc.
The panel is 4 yards, and you can see the big sections are actually half yards. So the cat dream, the unicorns, and the butterflies are half yards and then everything is near unto a fat quarter.
It also took far longer than expected because I actually reworked several of the patterns. The was for the purpose of making them more functional. The unicorns are smaller, and there are more of them. The butterflies are about the same size, but they are spread out so you can cut around them… things like that. It was crazy to work with files so old (and disorganized). My process, looking back, was pretty tedious. Tortuous, if you will, and it’s all there in my files.
I loved being able reach back in time and include some really early prints, like the Ugly Duckling, and the main print from Hello Pilgrim. They’re real treasures, and you’d have to have been really on the ball to have any of those.
Grab the Green/Teal/Citron panel here.
I had said that I was going to do a fussy panel, and I’m still working on it, but gosh, it has me totally stumped. I didn’t want the panel to be huge, but also… I have a lot of characters. A LOT of faces, and everyone wants a different size for epp. I’m stumped I tell you! I’ll get back to it, but I wanted to release one other thing, so I opted for Guising.
So many people never got Guising. It was a real sleeper. It went to the clearance section FAST. I don’t think it was released at the right time of year… in fact I think it shipped right around Halloween. A lot of people never saw it before it was too late. Then people got really mad. The Halloween girlies were not having it! So its been a collector thing ever since. It’s just as it was, but I added a few things. 2.5 yards of halloween cuteness classic and a few things for the fuzzy cutters.
I will say, putting this together gave me some ideas for a future halloween line that I feel good about, and I guarantee you’ll know about it when it does. No clearance section this time around. But just to put things into perspective, it will be a few years before this sees the light of day if at all….
For now, snag the archival print of Guising
One more note. Working with my Jewels, and Asterisks here made me really homesick for them. I will do my darndest to get them back into the world. They’re just so good basic in the best way.
The pre-order for these closes on Tuesday the 28th, when the order will be placed with my printer. I won’t be ordering any extra this time around so if this is for you, let it be for you, and if it isn’t… it’s totally ok. There will be more color group panels in the future, but they’re going be pretty spread out. For cost reasons, and work load reasons. They are a profound amount of work, and my dance card is fully full for the next 8 months with Moda biz.
Thanks for all the notes and well wishes. I’m fully on the mend. I honestly think I was due for a long break, and my body took it in the form of strep.
Being sick is rotten, but the rest was very needed.
I’ll be back after the holiday with some exclusive stuff for my subscribers and more Love Letter previews. xoxoxox
