I’m a bit of a Sara Crewe when it comes to birthdays.
I’d much rather give gifts than receive them.
Which is WHY I wanted to share this pattern with you as a birthday gift and a thank you for being here. If I could have you over for a slice of cake and very cold Spindrift, and what I can only imagine would be a STUNNING performance by Magnolia, I would opt for that, but this will have to do for now.
I have long been a color lover/devotee. Completely drawn in, I started studying color early in my life only to eventually discover that I have a condition called synesthesia. Color isn’t just color but sounds, and tastes, and feelings, and numbers etc. It has a visceral sensory element to it. Has a color ever hurt your teeth?
The Colorist has been out of print/circulation for years now, but I still really like it for a couple of reasons: It goes together quickly, is relatively inexpensive to make as far as quilts go, makes a terrific gift quilt for a baby or full grown human, can show off a wide range of favorite fabrics or a layer cake (falls right into my quilting philosophy), and it looks great on a bed. It has it all!
Only those who love color are admitted to its beauty and immanent presence. It affords utility to all, but unveils its deeper mysteries only to its devotees.
